| 2000-01 Schedule/Results #2 Drexel 90, #7 Northeastern 78
Martin, named America East Rookie of the Year on Wednesday, scored 27 points while Maslowski, who was honored as conference Player of the Year, tallied 26. Each player had 12 rebounds and Martin shot 10--11 from the floor while Maslowski went 14-16 from the free throw line. The pair helped the Dragons to a 35-28 halftime lead and they widened their advantage to 62-38 with 10:43 to play. But the pesky Huskies battled back from beyond the arc as Genny Caruso hit four three-pointers and Kiarsha Curtis nailed two to cut the deficit to 81-73 with two minutes to play. Drexel then put the game away by hitting nine-of-ten from the free throw line to advance to the semifinal round Friday evening. The Dragons, now 19-9 on the season, made just 1-10 from three-point range but went 35-44 from the chartity stripe and outrebounded the Huskies, 47-31. In addition to Maslowski and Martin, Steph Frysinger added 14 points. Caruso and Curtis led five Northeastern players each with 17 points. It was a career high for Caruso. Joi Jefferson had 14 and Melissa Kowalski and Jessica DiMaria had 10 apiece. Caruso also tied a school and America East quarterfinal record with five three-pointers (in just six attempts). Drexel shot a blistering 66.7 percent in the second half (16-24). The Huskies finish their season at 13-16.
Kowalski scored 10 points to finish her season with 355 points, breaking the NU freshman record of 348 set by Pam Green in 1983-84. Aisha Williams also set a freshman mark. She ended the year with 94 assists to better the old record of 84 established by Desiree Clagon in 1981-82. Williams matched a season high with seven assists against Drexel. Lawrence came up just short of NU's season record for rebounds. She had four on Thursday to end her year with 302, a mere four shy of Carla Singleton's 306 in 1986-87. VISITORS: #7 Northeastern 13-16
