Incoming freshmen Wilson, Cannon named first team All-Rhode Island
April 22, 2008
Boston, MA

Incoming freshmen Brittany Wilson (Providence, R.I./Bay View High School) and Kashaia Cannon (Providence, R.I./Bay View High School) have been named first team All-Rhode Island by the Providence Journal. Wilson is now a three-time first team All-Rhode Island selection and is the all-time leading scorer at Bay View. Cannon is a first team All-Rhode Island selection for the first time after being named to the second team the last two seasons.

Wilson, who has already been named the Rhode Island Gatorade Player of the Year, was Bay View’s leading scorer this past season at 14.2 points per game and shot 56 percent from the floor. Wilson also grabbed 197 rebounds and recorded 76 assists, 46 blocks, and 75 steals. In her four year career, she led Bay View to the 2006 state championship, state runner-up finishes in 2007 and 2008, and four I-Central division titles.

Cannon was Bay View’s second leading scorer this past season at 12.3 points per game. She led Bay View in three-point shooting and assists, and was second in steals and third in rebounds. After transferring to Bay View as a junior, she helped lead Bay View to consecutive state title game appearances and consecutive I-Central division titles.

Wilson and Cannon are two of six incoming recruits for Northeastern, and will look to help the program build upon the successes of 2007-08 that saw the Huskies post a 10-win improvement from the previous season and advance to the CAA Tournament quarterfinals.
