The women’s basketball team dropped an 82-51 decision to the Texas Tech Lady Raiders from the Big 12 Sunday afternoon at the UCF Knights Classic in Orlando, Fla. Texas Tech’s Dominic Seals had a game high 19 points as the Lady Raiders shot 58.5 percent from the field. Lucia Pablos was Northeastern’s high scorer with 17 points. NU returns to the floor next Saturday for their home opener against Massachusetts at Solomon Court.
Texas Tech opened the game with a 12-3 lead, but NU used a 9-3 run on baskets from Jasmine Crew, Stefanie Hodell, and Pablos to cut the deficit to 15-9. Texas Tech though answered with a 15-3 run that created separation between the two squads.
Northeastern was effective on the offensive glass all afternoon, grabbing 14 offensive rebounds, led by Hodell who had four. The Huskies also forced the Lady Raiders into 28 turnovers, as Feldman had four steals, and Hodell and Pablos each had three. However NU struggled from the field, and weren't able to convert on the extra chances the offensive rebounds and turnovers created.
Hodell had eight points for the Huskies on 4-6 shooting, and had five rebounds, tying for the team lead with Pablos.
Raquel Christian with 14 points and Keisha Walker with 10 with the other Lady Raiders to contribute offensively.
