The Huskies dropped a 69-47 decision to Hofstra University Sunday afternoon at Solomon Court. Kim Carr scored a team high 15 points for the Huskies. Northeastern falls to 0-3 in the CAA, while Hofstra improves to 1-2 in the CAA.
With Northeastern trailing 15-14 midway through the first half, Hofstra used an 11-7 run to take a 26-21 lead. Northeastern then scored four of the game’s next six points to cut Hofstra’s lead to 28-25, but the Pride scored seven straight points to lead 35-25 at halftime.
Hofstra began the second half on a 9-4 run, making the score 44-29 with 15:14 left in the game. Northeastern was able to chip away at the lead, cutting the score to 47-37 with 10:40 left. During this stretch, Carr connected on a jumper, followed by two foul shots from Shaleyse Smallwood to make the score 44-33. Jasmine Crew hit a jumper on Northeastern's next possession, and after a Hofstra three-pointer, Carr scored again.
That 10 point deficit would be as close as Northeastern could get as Hofstra built up its lead the remainder of the game.
Stefanie Hodell had eight points and five rebounds for the Huskies, while Smallwood and Kendra Walton each added seven points.
Northeastern returns to the court next Thursday in Philadelphia, Pa. against Drexel for a 7 p.m. tip-off.
