Women's Basketball Announces 2008 Recruiting Class
Nov. 26, 2007
Boston, MA

Head coach Daynia La-Force Mann of the women’s basketball team has announced the Huskies’ 2008 recruiting class. Kashaia Cannon (Providence, R.I./Bay View HS) Jamie Conroy (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Ford), Kristina Coppolino (Holmdel, N.J./Red Bank Catholic), Jayne Cox (Princeton, Ohio/Princeton), Daniela Iervolino (Manhasset, N.Y./St. John’s the Baptist), and Brittany Wilson (Providence, R.I./Bay View HS) will make up the class of 2012 for the Huskies.

Cannon, a 5’9 shooting guard was named second team All-State by the Providence Journal and third team All-State by the Rhode Island Coaches Association. Along with her teammate Wilson, she helped lead Bay View to the State Championship game last season.

“Kashaia is a very athletic guard,” said La-Force Mann. “She is very instinctive defensively and brings a lot to the table on that side of the ball. We look forward to her ability to shut down the opposition’s best player.”

A 5’8 point guard, Conroy was an All-City selection as a junior playing in the highly competitive New York City area which produces many Division I players each year.

“Jamie is an elusive guard who has the ability to play both point guard and off guard,” commented La-Force Mann. “She is a very good scorer and has a diverse offensive game which will translate well to the Division I level.”

Coppolino, a 5’11 forward, led Red Bank Catholic to the New Jersey Non-Public A State Championship, and in the process, was named both third team All-State and third team All-State for juniors by the Newark Star Ledger. Coppolino was also named third team All-Monmouth/Ocean County by the Star Ledger.

“Kristina is extremely physical in the low post and brings all the intangibles you look for in a player” said La-Force Mann. “She is a player that every successful program has, one who is willing to do all the dirty work for the betterment of the program.”

A 6’2 power forward, Cox will come to Boston from Ohio, where she was an All-State player as a junior, and averaged 10.3 points and 6.6 rebounds last season. Cox’s sister, Lesslee Mason, was a Parade All-American in high school and currently plays at Ohio State.

“Jayne is a tremendous low post presence who will greatly enhance that part of our team,” said La-Force Mann. “She is a great rebounder who will certainly improve that part of our team as well.”

Iervolino, a 5’5 point guard led St. John’s the Baptist to a 23-5 record last season and a Catholic High School Athletic Association championship. Iervolino was also a third team All-State selection and a first team All-Long Island choice.

“Daniela is a great floor leader in addition to being a very talented player,” commented La-Force Mann. “We look forward to her leadership which will be a tremendous asset to our program.”

Wilson, a 5’9 wing, has been a first team All-State selection the past two years. As a junior, Wilson was named first team All-State by both the Providence Journal, and the Rhode Island Coaches Association.

“Brittany is a next level player who was very highly recruited and we are tremendously excited to have her be apart of our program,” said La-Force Mann. “She’s an explosive wing player and we expect her to have an immediate impact and contribute on the offensive end as a freshmen.”

Currently 2-2, the Huskies return to the floor on Thursday night when they travel up to Hanover, N.H., to take on Dartmouth University. Tip-off is at 7 p.m.
