Crew and Wilson earn CAA honors at awards banquet

Sophomore Jasmine Crew and freshman Brittany Wilson of the Northeastern University women’s basketball team were honored at the CAA Awards Banquet, Wednesday night at the Festival Student & Conference Center on the campus of James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va.

Crew was named second-team All-CAA. The Camden, N.J. native led the Huskies in scoring at 14.3 points per game and assists with 3.1 per game. She is also averaging 4.4 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game. Crew registered three 20-point outings in the 2008-09 including a career-best 27-point effort in an overtime victory over Georgia State on Feb. 12. She has also scored in double figures in 22 out of the 27 games she has played in the season.

Wilson earned All-Rookie honors after averaging 7.9 points per game and 5.4 rebounds per game during the regular season. Wilson’s scoring and rebounding averages rank in the top 10 among freshmen in the conference and her 39.8 field goal percentage tops all rookies in the CAA. The Pawtucket, R.I. native, was named CAA Rookie of the Week three times (Dec. 15, Jan. 19, & Feb. 23) and has scored in double figures 10 times this season. She recorded her first-career double-double (11 points, 12 rebounds) at James Madison.

Northeastern finished the regular season 11-18 overall and 8-10 in the CAA under the guidance of third-year head coach Daynia La-Force Mann. The Huskies will be the No. 6 seed in the CAA Tournament and will take on the 11th-seeded Georgia State Panthers Thursday night at the JMU Convocation Center in Harrisonburg, Va., at 7:30 p.m.
