Wilson named CAA Rookie of the Week for the third time

Brittany Wilson was named CAA Rookie of the Week for the third time this season after averaging 17.0 points and 4.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals last week, the conference announced Monday.

The freshman guard from Pawtucket, R.I., scored a career-high 17 points in 22 minutes in last Thursday’s 68-58 victory at William & Mary and followed that up with a 17 point and six rebound performance against Drexel. Wilson shot 7-for-12 at William & Mary and 8-for-14 against Drexel shooting a combined 57.6 percent from the field.

This season, Wilson is averaging 8.1 points per game, fifth amongst CAA rookies and fourth on the team. She also ranks in the top 20 in the conference in rebounding averaging 5.6 rebounds a game. Wilson has also scored in double figures 10 times this season and led the team in scoring on three separate occasions.

At 10-16 overall and 7-8 in the CAA, the Huskies are still in the running for a first-round bye in the CAA Tournament which is rewarded to the top-four teams in the conference. Northeastern steps back on the hardwood Thursday night to face the Delaware Fighting Blue Hens in Newark, Del.
