CRCA honors six Huskies
The five Huskies that were named National Scholar-Athletes are senior Ashley Griffeth (3.71, Sociology), senior Jillise Ketcham (3.89, Criminal Justice), junior Svenja Sanders (3.86, International Business), senior Meredith Sparano (3.89, Criminal Justice) and junior Pia Zubrowski (3.77, International Business).
There were a number of requirements that had to be met in order to be eligible for the honor, including the scholar-athlete must have maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher throughout her career and she must have rowed in at least 75% of all spring races or taken part in a regional conference event.
Candidates also must have been in their second, third or fourth year of eligibility and have already met all eligibility requirements as outlined by their institutions.
In addition, senior Ashley Bruno was named to the New England All-Region First Team. The team is one of 10 Division One teams representing the five regions, with each region being alloted a first and second team.

The Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association today announced that five members of the Northeastern University women's crew team were honored by being named CRCA National Scholar-Athletes for the 2008 season, while another was named to an All-Region First Team.
