Boston, Mass.
The women’s hockey team announced today that Lindsay Domaas and Brittany Esposito will be joining Northeastern for the 2009-10 season.
Esposito, a forward from Edmonton Alberta, played three years for St. Francis Xavier and two seasons for the Edmonton Thunder of the Alberta Major Midget Female Hockey League. In the 2008-09 season, Esposito helped the Thunder to Provincial and League championships as well as a Pacific Regional Championship while serving as an assistant captain. “Brittany has all the potential to be a big time player,” said NU head coach Dave Flint. “She is capable of scoring in bunches, and we are excited to have her coming to Northeastern.”
Domaas, a defender from Minnetonka, Minn., played three years for Benilde-St. Margaret’s, captaining the team in 2008-09. She helped the team to section 6AA championships in 2006-07 and 2007-08, and North Suburban Conference titles from 2004-2008. She was an All-Conference selection in 2007-08, and participated in the national development camp in 2007 and 2008. “Lindsay is a solid defender who is a great leader, and we are looking forward to her having an impact on a pretty good defensive core,” said Flint.
Northeastern previously announced the commitments of forwards Siena Falino (Centerport, N.Y.), Rachel Llanes (San Jose, Calif.), Casey Pickett (Wilmington, Mass.) and Kelly Wallace (Libertyville, Ill.) and defender Casie Fields (Buffalo Grove, Ill.) for the 2009-10 season. The addition of Esposito and Domaas increases the size of Northeastern’s recruiting class to seven.
The Huskies finished 2008-09 with a 12-20-3 record, the team’s best in five seasons. The Huskies’ 7-13-1 conference mark also earned Northeastern a berth in the Hockey East playoffs for the first time since 2003-04.
