Freshmen Mia Mucci and Amy Goodney both netted goals for Northeasern, but New Hampshire's Carolyn Gordon scored twice, including the game-winning tally, to propel the seventh-ranked Wildcats to Thursday night's 4-2 Hockey East victory over the Huskies at the Whittemore Center.

UNH, now unbeaten in four games (3-0-1), improved to 5-2-2 overall and 2-0-1 in Hockey East. Northeastern, which entered the game with the nation's longest unbeaten streak of eight games (6-0-2), is now 6-2-2, 0-1-1. Following a scoreless first period, the Huskies took a 1-0 lead when Mia Mucci scored a power-play goal on a rebound from close range 1:39 into the middle stanza. UNH tied the score 2:10 later, however, when Gordon evaded the defense in the left circle and snapped a shot from the left doorstep high inside the far post.

The Wildcats also netted goals 1:57 apart late in the second period to take a 3-1 lead into the second intermission. Nicole Hekle put the Wildcats in front with a shorthanded goal at 12:45. Lindsey Caleo recorded her first collegiate point as she was the one who, from the left dashers, found Hekle alone in front of the net. Allison Edgar was also credited with an assist. Gordon increased UNH's advantage to 3-1 with a power-play goal at 14:42 when she redirected a slapshot from the left point by Kristen Thomas. Stephanie Jones also set up the goal.

Northeastern trimmed the deficit to one goal, 3-2, at 4:53 of the final frame when Cyndy Kenyon, who set up Mucci's tally, was denied on the doorstep but Amy Goodney scored into an open left side of the net on the rebound.

As in the second period, the Wildcats answered quickly at the other end. Jones reestablished a two-goal edge for UNH at 6:51 when she skated into the high slot from the right circle and wristed a shot into the upper-left corner.

The Huskies called time out with 2:48 to play and created a two-skater advantage by pulling goaltender Katy Augustyn while NU was on a power play. Augustyn (18 saves) remained on the bench the rest of the way as UNH goalie Melissa Bourdon preserved the two-goal lead. Bourdon made 10 of her 19 saves in the third period.
