Lindsay Snider's unassisted goal at 10:29 of the third period proved to be the game-winner in Northeastern's 4-3 win over Maine Friday night at Matthews Arena.
The Huskies (13-7-7, 7-4-3) trailed 3-2 heading into the third period, but Amy Goodney's second goal of the game and team-leading 12th of the year, at 8:26, knotted the game at 3-3.
Mia Mucci started the scoring at 6:31 of the first, with Rebecca Peters and Kathryn Sands being credited with assists. Tristan Desmet drew Maine (8-14-4, 5-8-2) even at 1-1 with a goal at the 17:18 mark of the first.
Goodney then knocked in an unassisted power-play goal at 4:33 of the second to give NU a 2-1 advantage, but UM's Meagan Aarts and Kesna Tatomir found the back of the net at 12:43 and 15:19 of the second, respectively, to put the Black Bears up 3-2. Aarts' tally came on the power play.
Chanda Gunn made 34 saves for the Huskies, while Maine's Lara Smart stopped 28 shots.
Northeastern and Maine go at it again tomorrow, Saturday, Feb. 21, at 3 p.m. at Matthews Arena.
