In an exhibition game against the club women's ice hockey program from BU, the Huskies won by a score of 4-0. NU claimed third place in the Women's Beanpot with the victory.
Sarah Belliveau made her first career start in goal. She was perfect, and made 11 saves.
Northeastern broke the game open, 2-0, in the opening two minutes. Chrissy Sands scored the first goal at 1:15 with assists from Jennifer Beaudoin and Ashley Bielawski. Linda Desruisseaux scored just 2:08 into the game with assists from Jen Bergeron and Jill Lizotte. The Huskies went into the first intermission on the winning side, 2-0.
The Huskies scored two more goals in the second period. Lizotte had a goal at 8:03 with assists from Desruisseaux and Lori DiGiacomo. Bergeron finished up the scoring at 10:15.
Boston University has completed their final Beanpot as a club team. They will become a Division I team for the 2005-06 season, and compete in Hockey East with scholarship athletes.
Northeastern plays their next three games on the road. They travel to Maine this weekend for a two-game set. Maine won both meetings in December by scores of 3-1 and 3-2. The Black Bears sit in fifth place of Hockey East with eight points, and the Huskies are in sixth place with nine points.
Both teams are fighting for the fourth place spot, currently occupied by BC (nine points). The top four teams in the regular season qualify for the Hockey East Tournament.
