|
Northeastern lost 6-1 to St. Lawrence on Saturday at Matthews Arena. The loss drops The Huskies record to 1-4-1 on the season while the sixth-ranked St. Lawrence remains undefeated with a 6-0-1 record.
Husky goaltender Marisa Hourihan stopped 47 shots on the game including 19 in the first period. St. Lawrence had several break away opportunities in the third period but Hourihan was able to shut them down. Hourihan's record falls to 1-4-1 on the season.
The Huskies lone goal came in the second period on an amazing play by Crystal Rochon. Rochon recieved a pass from Chrissy Sands in the Northeastern zone and was able to avoid three defenders as she skated with the puck through the neutral zone. Once she beat the St. Lawrence defense she made a spectacular move on goalie Jess Moffat to net her first goal of the season.
St. Lawrence captain Rebecca Russell had a hat trick and assisted on Chelsea Grills short handed goal in the second period. Russell now has 16 points (six goals, 10 assists) in seven games this season.
The Huskies look to rebound from the loss on Nov. 7 when they face Clarkson at Matthews Arena. The game will start at 2:00 p.m.
