The Huskies skated to their second victory of the season and first Hockey East victory of the year with a 4-2 defeat of cross-town rival Boston College. The Huskies record is now 2-6-1 while the Eagles fall to 2-8-1 on the season.
The line of Crystal Rochon, Amy Goodney, and Nikki Petrich were too much for the Eagles defense to handle as each Husky scored a goal and had at least three points. Crystal Rochon had four points on the night with one goal and three assists.
Northeastern scored first thanks to Crystal Rochon's second goal of the season. Nikki Petrich assisted on the goal that gave the Huskies the 1-0 lead heading into the second period. Boston College was able to tie the score thanks to a goal from Kerri Sanders. Midway through the second period the Huskies regained the lead thanks to Nikki Petrich's first of two goals on the night. She was assisted by her line mates Amy Goodney and Crystal Rochon. Petrich's two-goal game was the first multi-goal game of her young career.
Entering the third period the Huskies held a 2-1 lead but the Eagles were threatening to score on a power play. Crystal Rochon was able to intercept a pass and feed Amy Goodney for a short-handed goal gave the Huskies a two-goal lead. The Huskies added an empty net goal by Nikki Petrich to seal the deal.
Junior goaltender Marisa Hourihan was outstanding in goal again with 31 saves including 14 in the second period. Kerri Sanders of Boston College had two goals on the game bringing her season total to three.
The Huskies will face off tomorrow against another Hockey East opponent in the seventh-ranked Wildcats from New Hampshire. The game will be played at the Whittemore Center at 7 p.m.
