The Huskies got off to an early lead when Ali Bielawski, a freshman, scored an unassisted goal 4:59 into the first period. The Junior Hawks tied it up before the period was over when Melissa Lecroix scored at 17:06 with help from Kayla Carson.
With the Huskies on a power-play, Northeastern took a 2-1 lead when Ashley Bielawski scored on a feed from Crystal Rochon at 2:47. Northeastern outshot the Junior Hawks, 11-6, in the second frame, but the Junior Hawks took the advantage from the Huskies as they got goals from Brittany Francis and Jennifer Campitelli at 13:47 and 18:38, respectively. Francis' score was on a power-play while Campitelli's was a short-hander.
With Northeastern down 3-2 in the third, Desrosiers provided the heroics when she took a pass from Jessica Coppney in front of the net on a power-play and shot it past Miller at 9:21. Redshirt freshman goalie held off a Junior Hawk barrage in the third period, making 18 saves in the period, to preserve the tie. Belliveau made five more saves in overtime and totalled 33 in the game.
Christin Kessler started in goal for the Junior Hawks and made 15 saves before she was relieved by Jamie Miller at 11:40 in the second. Miller made nine saves and added a second assist on Campitelli's goal while finishing the game.
Northeastern is back in action on Sunday at noon for an exhibition contest against the Bluewater Junior Hawks. Northeastern opens the regular season at home on Friday, Oct. 7 when it takes on Boston University at 7 p.m. at Matthews Arena. It will be the Terriers' first-ever varsity game and both teams' first Hockey East game of the season.

Matthews Arena (Boston, MA)Northeastern opened its 2005-06 season with a 3-3 tie versus the Toronto Junior Aeros in an exhibition game on Friday at Matthews Arena. The Huskies were down 3-2 heading into the third period, but Marie Desrosiers scored 9:21 into the frame to send it into overtime and the Huskies came away with a draw. Sisters Ali and Ashley Bielawski also scored for NU.
