| 2005-06 Schedule/Results Maine 3, Northeastern 2
The Northeastern women's hockey team staged a late rally, but Maine was able to hold on for a 3-2 victory on Sunday, Dec. 4 at Matthews Arena. Crystal Rochon and Ali Bielawski each scored a goal for the Huskies, who finish off their season series with Maine with a 1-1-1 record and are now 4-12-1 overall (3-7-1 Hockey East). Sonia Corriveau had a goal and an assist for the Black Bears, while Vanessa Vani scored the game-winner in the third period. Marisa Hourihan made 34 saves for NU in the loss. At the 4:37 mark of the third, Vani put home her eighth goal of the season to put Maine up 3-1. Corriveau moved to the low slot and her rebound caromed to Vani, who flipped a shot past Hourihan to the far side. Corriveau received the only assist on the play. The Huskies rebounded with a goal at 12:34 on Ali Bielawski's second goal of the season. Jennifer Beaudoin (two assists) took a slapshot from outside the zone to set up a line change, but the puck went wide of the net and bounced off the end boards to Bielawski. The freshman tossed the puck on net and it slipped by Maine's Lundy Day. Northeastern continued to pressure throughout the period, but the Huskies could not crack Day again. Northeastern got on the board first, potting a goal at 2:23 of the first from Rochon. Rochon took a pass from Jennifer Beaudoin and attempted to center a pass to Nikki Petrich. The puck deflected off the stick of a Maine defender and through Lundy Day's five-hole to put NU up 1-0. Petrich was also credited with an assist on the goal. Maine struck back in the second period, knotting the game just 1:28 into the frame. Julie Poulin blasted a shot from the right side that Hourihan turned away, but Brigitte LaFlamme hopped on the rebound and buried it for her sixth goal of the season. Poulin was awarded the only assist. The Black Bears took their first lead of the game at 16:40 of the second, with Sonia Corriveau netting her fifth goal of the season while Maine was on a 5-on-3 advantage. Kelly Law blasted a shot from the point that was knocked down in front, but Corriveau was there for the rebound, which she slid low past Hourihan. Law was credited with the only assist. Northeastern is back in action Saturday, Dec. 10 at 2 p.m., when the Huskies face off with crosstown rival Boston College at Conte Forum. Hockey Game Box Score (Final)
