| 2005-06 Schedule/Results Boston College 5, Northeastern 4
The Northeastern women's hockey team dropped a heartbreaker on Saturday, Dec. 10, falling to Boston College 5-4 at Kelley Rink. Crystal Rochon scored two goals and an assist in the game, while Ashley Bielawski had a pair of assists in the loss. The Huskies came from behind to tie the game on three different occasions before the Eagles netted the game-winner. Sarah Feldman had two goals and two assists for the home team. Boston College got the game-winner at 13:46 of the third, as Jill McInnis put home her second goal of the year off a rebound. Erin Blood found room at the point to unleash a blast from the center point, and the rebound found McInnis on the near side. The senior flipped the puck high past a diving Marisa Hourihan to put the home team up 5-4. The Eagles struck first blood at 5:30, when Sarah Feldman slammed home a rebound at 5:30 of the first period. Meghan Fardelmann walked into the slot and put a shot on Hourihan’s left pad and the rebound came right back into the low slot. Feldman wristed a shot off Hourihan’s shoulder and it deflected into the net for her eighth goal of the season, giving the home squad a 1-0 lead. BC extended its lead to 2-0 at 11:36 with Feldman sliding another puck home after a scrum in front of the net. Maggie Taverna’s shot was turned away by Hourihan, but the puck remained loose in the crease, and Feldman pushed it home for her second of the game and ninth of the season. NU struck back at 12:05 of the first, with Ali Bielawski burying her third goal of the year. Bielawski went behind and tried a wrap around that Alison Quandt turned away the initial shot, but Bielawski connected the second time, putting the puck low to the near side. Ashley Bielawski was credited with an assist on the play. The two teams went back-and-forth in a wild second period that saw four goals scored. Crystal Rochon evened the score at 2-2 at 3:01, when she stole the puck in the offensive zone while forechecking and roke in alone on Quandt. The junior went to her backhand and put the puck past Quandt’s glove for her ninth goal of the season and fifth in her last four games. The Eagles took the lead once again at 8:57 as Fardelmann wripped a wrister through a screen that Hourihan lost sight of, and the puck went high to her glove side for Fardelmann’s fourth goal of the season. Feldman and Deborah Spillane were credited with assists on the play. NU pulled even once again at 17:37, with Marie Desrosiers scoring her first goal of the season while on the power play. Rochon passed to Amy Goodney in the slot, and Goodney blasted a shot on net. The rebound fell right in the crease and Desrosiers pounced on it to make the score 3-3. The goal broke a power play drought for the Huskies that stretched back to the second period against Clarkson on November 5. The Eagles would not go away, though, and Spillane’s eighth of the season put the home squad ahead 4-3 just before the break, at 19:32. After a skirmish in the near-side faceoff circle, the puck slid out to a wide-open Spillane, who wristed the puck past a moving Hourihan. Feldman was credited with an assist on the goal. The Huskies knotted the score once more at 3:15, with Rochon netting her second of the game and tenth of the season with a wrap-around that snuck through the legs of Quandt to make the score 4-4. Ashley Bielawski registered an assist on the play. Northeastern is now off through the holiday break and will play next on Sunday, Jan. 7 at Yale. Game time is slated for 4 p.m. in New Haven, Conn.
