| 2005-06 Schedule/Results #1 New Hampshire 11, Northeastern 1
Top-ranked New Hampshire got five points from Sadie Wright-Ward and four from Leah Craig in an 11-1 victory over the Northeastern women's hockey team on Saturday, Feb. 11 at Matthews Arena. Marisa Hourihan made 43 saves and Nikki Petrich scored a shorthanded goal for the Huskies. The Wildcats got on the board at the 8:03 mark of the first period on their opening power play of the game. Defender Martine Garland took a shot from the center point that Hourihan turned aside, but Kacey Bellamy was right there to put the rebound through Hourihan's five-hole for her fifth goal of the season. Sadie Wright-Ward was also credited with an assist on the play. New Hampshire made it 2-0 on another rebound goal at 15:12 of the opening frame. This time it was Nicole Hekle batting home a rebound of a Craig shot to Hourihan's far side for her 10th goal of the season and fourth against the Huskies. Lindsay Hansen also received an assist on the play. After a power-play goal by Jennifer Hitchcock, the Huskies found themselves shorthanded once again at the 6:17 mark with Ali Bielawski off for hooking. Petrich stole the puck from Garland just inside the blue line and went coast to coast for her ninth goal of the season at 6:42. The Wildcats then blew the game wide-open with three goals in a span of 1:10, two by Craig within 54 seconds. Shannon Clement added the third goal just 16 seconds after Craig's second of the night to make it a 6-1 UNH lead. Samantha Faber's goal at 14:00 of the second period made the score 7-1 in favor of the visitors heading into the locker room. In the third, UNH continued to pressure the Huskies, and Lindsay Hansen made it a seven-goal margin with her sixth of the year at 9:15. The Wildcats added three more goals, two in a span of 54 seconds, to put the finishing touches on a 11-1 score that increased their winning streak to 20 games (19-0-1). Garland, Sam Faber and Hansen each had a goal and two assists for UNH, while leading scorer Hitchcock and Shannon Clement had a goal and an assist apiece. The 'Cats outshot the Huskies 54-7 in the game. Northeastern returns to the ice on Tuesday, Feb. 14 against Boston University in the second round of the Women's Beanpot Tournament. Game time is slated for 5 p.m. at Harvard's Bright Hockey Center. Hockey Game Box Score (Final)
