| 2005-06 Schedule/Results Northeastern 2, Vermont 1
Marie Desrosiers scored the game-winning goal with 1:23 remaining in regulation to give the Northeastern women's hockey team a 2-1 victory over Vermont on Saturday, Feb. 18 at Gutterson Fieldhouse. Marisa Hourihan made 19 saves in the victory, while Crystal Rochon also scored a goal in the second period. The Huskies, who improved to 6-23-1 (5-14-1 Hockey East), and Catamounts will square off again on Sunday, Feb. 18 at 2 p.m. The two teams were scoreless through the first period, with Vermont registering most of its offense on its two full power plays, but Hourihan turned aside all six Catamount shots in the frame. The Huskies had a strong chance in front of the Cats' net early in the period, but Nikki Petrich was denied by Jenilee Roy on the shot and Caitlin Barnes cleared the rebound out of harm's way. Northeastern struck first at 5:02 of the second period, with Rochon netting her 15th goal of the season on a rebound of a Courtney O'Connor shot. O'Connor tried to put the puck five-hole on a wrister from the blue line, but the initial try was stopped by Roy. The rebound fell into the crease and Rochon banged the puck home to put NU up 1-0. Erin Reil also picked up an assist on the play. The Huskies entered the locker room with a 1-0 lead after two, had a golden opportunity at the beginning of the third period to push their lead to 2-0. Petrich slid a pass across to Rochon, who flipped a wrister toward the top corner, but Roy made a diving stick save to knock the puck out of mid-air. Rochon went on to draw a penalty on the play, but that was nullified shortly after when Marie Desrosiers went off for cross-checking. Vermont knotted the game at 1-1 with 3:42 to play on a wrister by Kristi Anderson on a one-on-one break. Anderson moved to the center of the ice and snapped a shot off across her body that snuck behind Hourihan to the blocker side as the senior moved to her left. Caitlin Barnes assisted on the goal, which foiled Hourihan's bid for her first shutout of the season. NU regained the lead with 1:23 to play with Desrosiers potting her fifth goal of the season. Petrich moved into the offensive zone, and her shot was blocked by a Catamount defender. The puck found its way onto the stick of Desrosiers, who slipped the puck by Roy to the short side to put NU up 2-1. The Cats drew a late penalty and pulled Roy, giving them a number of chances at the end of the game, but the NU defense blocked a multitude of shots and was able to keep UVM off the scoreboard. The Huskies outshot the Catamounts 11-8 in the third and 24-20 in the game. Hockey Game Box Score (Final)
