Marisa Hourihan made 23 saves for her first shutout of the season as the Northeastern women's hockey team topped Vermont 3-0 in its final Hockey East contest of the year. Nikki Petrich and Erin Reil had two assists apiece in the victory, while three different Huskies scored goals. Northeastern upped its record to 7-23-1 on the year and finished the Hockey East slate in seventh place with 13 points and a record of 6-14-1.

The Huskies took a 1-0 lead at 9:37 when Jessica Coppney batted home a rebound for her fifth goal of the season. Erin Reil fired a breakout pass to Coppney, who broke in alone on UVM goaltender Jenilee Roy, who stopped the junior's inital shot. But Ali Bielawski slipped the rebound back into the crease and Coppney punched it home. It marked the third straight game in which Reil has tallied an assist.

With 7:31 to play in the second, Northeastern had a magnificent scoring opportunity as Ashley Bielawski had Roy in a one-on-one. Jennifer Beaudoin had a perfect pass to send Bielawski in alone on the doorstep, but Roy made a brilliant glove save to keep the score 1-0.

Northeastern got a power-play opportunity with 7:44 to play in the third, and capitalized on it to push the lead to 2-0. Reil fed Nikki Petrich in the slot, and Petrich's initial shot was blocked in front. Ashley Bielawski, though, was right on the doorstep to wrist the puck off Roy's blocker for her 10th goal of the season.

The Huskies made it 3-0 with 3:38 to play in regulation on a beautiful one-timer by Desrosiers from Crystal Rochon. Rochon fed the puck from behind the net to a streaking Desrosiers, and the junior snapped a shot between Roy's pads for her sixth goal of the season. Nikki Petrich also piked up an assist on the goal. The Huskies outshot the Catamounts 13-1 in the third period to preserve Hourihan's fourth career shutout.

Northeastern is back in action next weekend when it hosts a non-conference series against Niagara at Matthews Arena. The Huskies and Purple Eagles will square off at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25 and at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 26.
