| 2005-06 Schedule/Results Niagara 5, Northeastern 2
Marie Desrosiers scored a first-period goal and Cassie Sperry netted her first career goal in the third period, but Northeastern finished its season on the wrong end of a 5-2 decision with Niagara on Sunday, Feb. 26 at Matthews Arena. Marisa Hourihan made 25 saves in her final collegiate contest, making her career total 2,388, second on the Huskies' all-time list. The Huskies finished the season at 8-24-1 (6-14-1 Hockey East). Northeastern got on the board first on a 5-on-3 power play. Erin Reil fed a pass to Crystal Rochon on the left point, and the junior fed a perfect back-door pass to Desrosiers on the right side, and she buried the puck for her seventh goal of the season at 15:02. Niagara struck back just after its second power play of the afternoon expired. Ashley Bielawski, who had been off for high sticking, jumped out of the box at 19:13, but before the fifth skater could get in position, Niagara's Meagan Smith banged home her seventh goal of the year at 19:18. Amy Jack and Erin Toth picked up assists on the play. Niagara opened the game up in the second period, netting three goals, two on the power play. The Purple Eagles took the lead on Michelle Del Monte's first goal of the season off a redirect of a Katie Gray pass at 6:36 of the second. Candace Boyles also had an assist on the score. The Purple Eagles netted their first power-play goal at 11:01 when Charde Hoyle-Levy batted home the rebound of an Amy Jack shot past a sprawling Hourihan. Boyles then netted her third goal of the year at 17:55 of the frame on a shot from the center point. Katie Sweeney had the primary assist on the goal, while Kerri-Lynn O'Hara assisted on both tallies. Sperry brought the Huskies back into the contest with her first collegiate goal at 7:11 on a wrister to the near side. Courtney O'Connor found her classmate up the near side and Sperry elected to shoot on a 2-on-1 break, beating Rutledge to the blocker side to make the score 4-2. Nikki Petrich picked up an assist as well. Husky seniors Katy Augustyn, Chrissy Sands, Kathy Sands, Jennifer Beaudoin, Lindsay Snider and Hourihan finished their careers on Sunday, and were honored before the game by Northeastern. Matthews Arena will host the Women's Hockey East Tournament next weekend, with semifinal matches on Saturday. Providence will face Boston College in one matchup, while New Hampshire will go head-to-head with Maine. The finals will be played on Sunday, March 5 at 1 p.m. Hockey Game Box Score (Final)
