| 2006-07 Schedule/Results Boston College 7, Northeastern 4
Anna McDonald scored two goals and assisted on a third as Boston College (5-1-1, 2-1-0 Hockey East) used a four-goal third period to come back and defeat Northeastern (1-6-0, 1-3-0), 7-4, on Sunday afternoon at Matthews Arena. McDonald scored both of her goals in the final frame, with the first coming at 5:17 of the third and the second at 14:32. McDonald's first goal came on a shot that was initially blocked but bobbled by NU freshman goaltender Sydney Arbelbide. The puck hung in the air and eventually landed behind the freshman goaltender, just creeping over the goal line. Her second tally, assisted by Meghan Fardelmann and Kelli Stack, provided an insurance tally for the visitors. The Eagles got the first good scoring chance of the afternoon, when Allie Thunstrom and Becky Zavisza broke out on a two-on-one break. Thunstrom fed Zavisza in front, but Arbelbide, making her second start of the season for the Huskies, made a nice left toe save to deny Zavisza at the right post. Midway through the period, the Huskies scored two quick goals within 40 seconds to take early control of the game. At the 10:14 mark, freshman Chelsey Jones skated down the right side and fed a nice pass across the crease to senior assistant captain Crystal Rochon, who redirected the pass into the net for the Huskies’ first goal. Under a minute later, freshman Lindsay Berman scored her first collegiate goal when she fired a shot from the side of the right circle that beat BC netminder Johanna Ellison to her right. The Huskies went into the first intermission up by a score of 2-0, marking the first time all season that Northeastern led after 20 minutes of play. The tenth-ranked Eagles came back in the second period, however, scoring three of the period’s four goals to tie the game at three after 40 minutes. Allie Thunstrom scored her team’s first goal of the game at the 7:31 mark, corralling a loose puck in front of Arbelbide and depositing it into the net. Then at 9:04, McDonald didn’t get good wood on a shot from the point, but the puck went directly to junior Lindsay Wright at the left post, and Wright scored her second of the season to get her team back to even. Only 61 seconds later, Jones scored her team-leading fourth goal of the season after taking a pass from the corner off the stick of junior Nikki Petrich to give the Huskies back the lead temporarily. The team looked like it might make it into the second intermission up a goal, but BC’s Kelli Stack put another puck past Arbelbide at 18:49 to even the score after two periods. In the third period, Boston College took control of the game and overpowered the Huskies. Besides McDonald's two goals, Megan Keever and Michelle Lombardi also registed goals for the Eagles. Keever's goal, a wrist shot from the high slot, was assisted by Thunstrom and came 1:07 after McDonald's first tally of the period. Jones tallied the final goal of the game for the Huskies in the third period, notching her second career multiple-goal game after taking a rebound of her own shot and firing it past Ellison. After the Huskies came out strong in the first period, the Eagles showed their strength over the final two stanzas. BC outshot Northeastern 17-6 in the second period and 20-6 in the third period, forcing Arbelbide to make 41 saves for the Huskies. For the Eagles, Ellison only needed to make 15 saves in earning her first victory of the season in her first start. Northeastern returns to action next weekend, as the team travels to New York for two nonconference games with Niagara on Saturday, Nov. 4 and Sunday, Nov. 5. Hockey Game Box Score (Final)
