| 2006-07 Schedule/Results Connecticut 3, Northeastern 2 (OT)
The Northeastern women's hockey team (2-8-1, 1-4-1 Hockey East) played very well for two periods, but host Connecticut (9-3-0, 6-0-0 Hockey East) came back with two goals in the third period and one early in overtime to defeat Northeastern, 3-2 in overtime, on Sunday afternoon at the Freitas Ice Forum in Storrs, Conn. UConn's Leslie Hurlburt scored the game-winning tally a mere seven seconds into the overtime period, capping Connecticut's comeback from two goals down in the third period. After an even first period, in which UConn held the shot advantage but neither team could score a goal, Northeastern came out very strong in the second period. NU held an 16-8 shot advantage against Connecticut, and scored the only two goals of the middle frame on the power play to build an advantage heading into the third period. At the 5:55 mark of the second, freshman Lindsay Berman scored her third goal of the season to give her team a 1-0 lead. After senior Crystal Rochon had her shot saved by UConn's Brittany Wilson, Berman picked up the puck and put it past Wilson. Rochon and junior Nikki Petrich were credited with assists on the goal. Later in the period, freshman Chelsey Jones scored for the second consecutive game after taking passes from Petrich and senior captain Amy Goodney. Jones' goal, her seventh of the season, marked her seventh consecutive game with at least one point. After playing such a strong second period, however, the home Huskies came out determined to get back into the game in the third. UConn outshot NU, 13-2, over the final 20 minutes of regulation, scoring twice to send the game into overtime. At the 12:16 mark, Natalie Vibert got her team on the board with an unassisted tally. Less than two minutes later, Hurlburt scored the first of her two goals on the afternoon by picking up a rebound from a Katherine Van Deveire shot and putting it past NU junior netminder Sarah Belliveau. Belliveau faced five more shots in regulation, but turned them all away to send the game into overtime. Unfortunately for Northeastern, Hurlburt wasted very little time breaking in on Belliveau and scoring the game-winner. Host Connecticut outshot Northeastern, 35-24, in staying perfect in Hockey East play this season. Belliveau played well in net for NU, making 31 saves and keeping her team in the game for most of the third period. Wilson made 23 saves for UConn, including 14 in the second period. With the loss, Northeastern falls to 2-8-1 overall and 1-4-1 in Hockey East play. The Huskies will complete their season-high six-game road trip next weekend when they travel to Durham, N.H. for two tough games with the University of New Hampshire Wildcats on Friday and Saturday.
