| 2006-07 Schedule/Results Boston University 6, Northeastern 2
Freshman Chelsey Jones and sophomore Colleen Sanborn both had multi-point efforts, but the Northeastern women's hockey team fell to Boston University, 6-2, on Saturday afternoon in the 2006-07 season finale for both teams at Walter Brown Arena in Boston. Jones and Sanborn both recorded one goal and one assist in the first period for the Huskies, who led 2-0 after the first 10:51 of play but could not hold on, as Erin Seman scored three times for the home team. With the loss, NU (5-26-2, 4-15-2 Hockey East) finishes in seventh place in Hockey East with 10 points, while BU (19-12-3, 10-9-2 Hockey East) ends the year in fifth place in the conference. The Huskies came out strong in the opening period, outshooting the Terriers by a 10-7 margin. NU had plenty of early chances, and Sanborn capitalized by putting the visitors out in front only 1:54 into the game with her third goal of the season. Jones fired a puck from the right circle that BU netminder Melissa Haber turned away, but Sanborn was there to collect the rebound and find the back of the net. Freshman Annie Hogan also recorded an assist for NU after bringing the puck through the neutral zone. NU continued its impressive start after Sanborn's goal, scoring again to take a two-goal lead at the 10:51 mark. This time it was Jones who beat Haber from in close, just sticking the puck under the pads of the BU goalie. Sanborn assisted on the goal, marking her second multi-point game both of the season and of her career. For Jones, her tally gave the Lake Elmo, Minn., native goals in three consecutive games for the second time this season. Her team-leading 16 goals are the most by a Husky in a single season since Brooke Whitney led the team with 32 tallies during the 2001-02 season, while her 27 points are the highest by an NU freshman since Whitney tallied 42 points in 1998-99 and tied for 23rd all-time by NU first-year players. After Jones' goal, however, BU struck back with two goals to even the game at two heading into the first intermission. Only eight seconds after Jones' tally, Cara Hendry took a shot from the low slot that eluded Arbelbide. Later in the period, Catherine Foley beat Arbelbide from the top of the crease to knot the game at two, as teams entered the first intermission tied despite most of play coming in the BU defensive end. BU came out determined in the second period, scoring three times in just under three minutes. Erin Seman began the run with a power-play goal 39 seconds after Jones entered the penalty box for roughing. The Terriers received another goal from Seman 4:56 into the second stanza and Kelley Karnan scored the team's fifth goal at the 6:08 mark. Seman completed her hat trick with 1:48 remaining in the third period. After BU's fourth tally, junior Sarah Belliveau took over for Arbelbide, who finished with eight saves in just under 25 minutes of action. Belliveau played well for the Huskies in relief, finishing the day with 10 saves on 12 shots. Haber got the win for BU by making 23 stops despite seeing NU outshot the Terriers, 25-24. Saturday's game marked the end of the 2006-07 season for the Huskies and the final collegiate game for seniors Ashley Bielawski, Jessica Coppney, Marie Desrosiers, Amy Goodney and Crystal Rochon. The five players of the NU Class of 2007 combined for 109 goals and 125 assists for 234 points in their careers. Hockey Game Box Score (Final)
