Women's soccer 2009 schedule released

The 2009 Northeastern University women's soccer schedule has been released, the team announced on Friday. The Huskies open the season with a pair of home games Aug. 28 and 30 at Parsons Field. The Huskies open against Longwood that Friday and then play Cincinnati on Sunday.
After their home opening weekend, the Huskies play in the Nike Invitational hosted by Georgia in Athens, Ga. NU plays Clemson on Sept. 4 and takes on the Bulldogs Sept. 6. The Huskies play three games against former America East foes New Hampshire, Boston University and Maine Sept. 11-20 before beginning their CAA slate.
Northeastern opens its league schedule on the road against Drexel on Sept. 24. The Huskies then return to host Delaware on Sept. 27 for their first CAA home game of the season. Northeastern then alternates pairs of home and road games through the rest of the CAA schedule. NU is at Towson and George Mason Oct. 2 and 4, respectively, then hosts William & Mary on Oct. 9 and Old Dominion on Oct. 11. The team is then back on the road at Georgia State and UNC Wilmington before hosting its final three regular season games.
The Huskies close the regular season hosting James Madison on Oct. 23, Virginia Commonwealth on Oct. 25 and Hofstra on Oct. 31.
The CAA Tournament will be played Nov. 4-9.
Northeastern is coming off a CAA Tournament title and NCAA second-round appearance in 2008. The Huskies entered the CAA Tournament as the No. 6 seed and knocked off UNC Wilmington, James Madison and Hofstra to win the title. The Huskies then defeated Harvard, 4-2 in penalty kicks, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament before closing the season with a 4-0 loss to Boston College in the second round.
