| 2002 Schedule/Results Memphis 3, Northeastern 0
Memphis tallied a trio of goals in a span of just 5:20 in the second half to break open a scoreless match and claim a 3-0 victory over Northeastern in the Tigers' home opener Friday at Mike Rose Soccer Complex. After outshooting the Huskies 13-2 and dueling to a first half draw, the Tigers kept the offensive pressure on in the second half and their persistence finally paid off. Sophomore midfielder Leanne McGee put Memphis on the board in the 67th minute after she took an over-the-top pass from fellow sophomore Monica Powell and sent a shot past a diving Cynthia Slowik in the Husky goal. That was the first of two Memphis goals in under a minute as senior Alison Baker quickly followed with her second goal of the season. Freshman Courtnee Melton recorded the assist on a through-ball leaving Baker all alone to beat Slowik. Freshman Nicky McLeod scored her first career goal in the 73rd minute to extend the Memphis lead to 3-0. McGee recorded the assist which was her second of the season. Scoring
