Freshman Tara McLarney tallied the first goal of her career with just 10 seconds left in the first half, as Northeastern held off Siena 1-0 Saturday at Parsons Field. The Huskies controlled most of the first half, keeping the ball in the Siena end, but couldn't capitalize. "We had plenty of chances in the first half, but not until the big goal did we have anything to show for it," Coach Ed Matz said. With time winding down in the first half, Jill Link controlled the ball and lofted a perfect cross toward the back post and McLarney one-timed it into the back of the net. Siena looked to knot the score at one with just 1:20 left in the match, as Jill Lanzl's shot from 30 yards out hit the crossbar and was just out of the reach of a sprawling Cynthia Slowik as it deflected out of bounds. "Siena made some good adjustments at halftime and we were just out of sync, but this was a very important win for us to even out our record," Matz said. Slowik made one save in her first shutout of the season. NU outshot the visiting Saints 15-3 and improved to 2-2-2 on the season. The Huskies will next take the field Sunday, Sept. 22 when they host Rider at Parsons Field starting at 1 p.m. Scoring
