The women's soccer team dominated Holy Cross in their home opener Sept. 5. The Huskies topped the Crusaders 4-0 led by senior co-captain Kristin Kowalik who scored twice and freshman midfielder Sophia Palmquist who registered a goal and an assist.
Kowalik began the scoring at the 16th minute mark on a cross from senior co-captain Siobhan Howard. Kowalik scored on a shot off the goalies hands and into the left corner of the net.
Less than two minutes later Palmquist collected the rebound from her own penalty shot for her first collegiate goal. She assisted the next Northeastern goal, Kowalik's second of the game.
Redshirt freshman midfielder Liza Rebello came off the bench and scored the final Northeastern goal in the 32nd minute. It was also her first collegiate goal.
The Huskies defense, led by junior back Laura Johnson kept the Crusader offense away from the net. The Crusaders had zero shots on goal and one wide shot.
Northeastern is back in action Sunday, Sept. 10 against Saint Joseph's. They will play at 1 p.m. at Parsons Field.
