| The Northeastern women’s soccer team tacked on another victory Sunday as they defeated George Mason 1-0 in overtime. The game winning goal was scored by Lesley Condie at 93:28. Condie was able to put the game away after the ball trickled out from a scramble in the box. Condie fired the shot from 24 yards out which beat George Mason goalkeeper Kelly Keelin.
The two teams seemed evenly matched throughout the entire game. Neither team had a shot on goal in the first half. Northeastern’s best chance in the first half came when Gabbi Jatkola made a long pass to the dangerous Veronica Napoli, however Napoli could not catch up to the ball and was grabbed by Keelin.
In the second half, Napoli once again seemed to have a good chance but was flagged as offside as she raced after the ball.
Northeastern goalkeeper Stephanie Gordon was only forced to make three saves. Her biggest save came with just 7:57 remaining in the game as a George Mason forward cut behind the Husky defense but was met by the sliding Gordon who was able to deflect the ball.
The Huskies are now 3-1-0 in CAA play and boast a 7-4-1 overall record. The team travels to William & Mary on Friday at 7 p.m. as they look to continue their great play on the pitch.
