Huskies fall to Maine 4-1

In the final game of their non-conference schedule, the Huskies were defeated 4-1 by the Black Bears in Orono, Maine. Stephanie Gordon recorded five saves for Northeastern, while Meagan Leinbenzeder made seven stops for the Black Bears. The Huskies are now 4-4-2 all-time against their former America East conference opponent.
The Black Bears struck early as forward Laura Martel scored her fifth goal of the season just 3:46 into the match. Maine then went up 2-0 in the 39th minute when Josee Descoeurs scored her first of the season.
Maine struck again, making it 3-0 on an indirect kick five minutes into the second half. In the 57th minute Northeastern got on the board as senior co-captain Liza Rebello found the back of the net for the third time this season. Northeastern gave up an own goal late in the contest.
Northeastern is now 5-2-0 as the Huskies enter their conference schedule this week. The Huskies will travel to Drexel on Thursday, Sept. 24th, for a 4 p.m. tilt.
