Kristin Slater has been named an assistant coach with the Northeastern University women’s soccer team, head coach Ed Matz announced. She will be the goal keepers coach for the Huskies. Slater comes to Northeastern after two seasons as a volunteer coach at Tufts University and a playing career with the WUSA Boston Breakers.
Slater played for the Breakers from 2002-03 and was the recipient of The Shield Award, selected by fans to reward leadership and community involvement.
Following the 2003 season she worked for the Boston Breakers Marketing and Promotions department to coordinate community and corporate events.
Slater graduated from Arizona State University in 2003 with a bachelor’s degree in Recreational Management. Slater lettered for the women’s soccer team from 1998-2001, serving as team captain in her final season. She posted four shutouts in 16 starts during the 2001 season. She made 71 saves for a .807 save percentage and posted a 1.12 goals against average.
Slater has also coached at the Golden Experience Soccer Camp. Needham High School and she spent one season as a volunteer coach at Arizona State.
