Napoli named All-New England first team

Northeastern freshman Veronica Napoli has been named first team All-New England the NEWISA announced this week. Napoli led the women’s soccer team with 12 goals, five assists and 29 points in what was the programs best season ever.
Napoli was recently named an NSCAA/adidas third team All-American and named to the All-Northeast first team. Napoli also received awards in the CAA earning the CAA Rookie of the Year Award and along with teammate Gabbi Jatkola, Napoli was named to the All-CAA third team and the All-CAA Rookie team. The speedy freshman scored her first collegiate hat trick in an overtime win against Drexel.
The Huskies won the CAA Championship and made it to the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the first-time ever. The Huskies also posted a nine win improvement and scored 28 more goals than in 2007.
Prior to Northeastern, Napoli played for the Prout School where she holds records in career goals (128) and assists (50). She was an All-State first team selection her final two years and a second-team All-State in her sophomore year. The team went 19-0 and won the state title her sophomore year as well. Napoli attended the Region I Olympic Development Pool for 2007-08 and participated in the Rhode Island State Olympic Development Program from 2006-08.
