Northeastern won three events and had a pair of runner-up finishes to place fourth as a team in the 2009 CAA Championship on Friday and Saturday at Johnny Unitas Stadium in Towson, Md. The Huskies got victories from Porshe Giddings (100-meter dash), Kristen Martin (10,000) and Nancy Rowe. Giddings set an NU record of 11.57 in the 100, Brittany Moriarty set a record of 16:44.03 while placing second in the 5,000, Martin set a record of 36:35.57 in the 10,000 and Jessica Barton set an NU record of 10:55.83 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

CAA Championship photos – Friday

    Nancy Rowe started off the CAA Championship with a victory in the javelin.
    Former volleyball player Lauren DeTurk placed fifth with a throw of 126'4. Porche Giddings

    Celeste Holder competes in the high jump portion of the heptathlon.

    Althea Charles placed sixth in the hammer.
    Brittany Moriarty qualified for the final of the 1,500-meter.
    Olivia Kalinowska placed took seventh in the pole vault (11'11.75).
    Kristen Hafford competes in the pole vault.

    Holder also competed in the open long jump, placing 11th.
      Angelique Marcus (left) and Seri Gordon both qualified for the 800-meter final.
    Christina Izzicupo ran 2:15.78 to qualify for the 800 final.
    Colleen Hill runs the 800-meter.

    Laura McCloskey ran in the 800 trials Friday and steeplechase Saturday.
    Kelly Madigan runs in the trials of the 100. She also ran the 200.
    Sarah Trotman ran 25.32 in the 200-meter trials.
    Katie Sherman ran in the 100-meter hurdles preliminaries Friday.

    Sherman also ran in the 400 hurdles preliminaries, qualifying for both finals.
    Brittany Moriarty came back from the 1,500 trials with a runner-up finish and NU record of 16:44.03 in the 5,000.
    Jessica Barton placed seventh in the 5,000 in 17:00.81.
Kristen Martin completed Friday's events with a win and NU record in the 10,000.

CAA Championship photos – Saturday

      On Saturday morning, Patricia Harrison tossed the shot put 42'11.5 to place seventh.
    Althea Charles placed eighth in the shot put with a throw of 42'3.25.
      Shaina Petit gets ready to throw the javelin as part of the heptathlon. She placed fourth overall.
    Ashley Furlong throws the javelin in the heptathlon. She took ninth.

    Consandria Walker passes the baton to Porshe Giddings in the 4x100-meter relay.
    Serena Allen anchors the relay. The Huskies finished third in 46.50.
    Brittany Moriarty was runner-up in the 5,000 on Friday, then came back to place seventh in the 1,500 final (above) in 4:35.30.
    Katie Sherman placed fifth in the 100-meter hurdles in 14.36.

      Giddings runs to the victory and an NU and CAA-record time of 11.57 in the 100-meter dash.

      Seri Gordon placed sixth in the 800 in 2:17.10.
      Sherman came back to place fifth in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:02.55.

    Jessica Barton leaps off the water barrier in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
    Barton placed second in the steeplechse in 10:55.83 after taking seventh in the 5,000 on Friday night.
    Annie Scully placed fourth in the steeplechase in 11:10.44.
     Walker took fourth in the triple jump with a distance of 39'3.75.

      Izzicupo led off Northeastern's 4x400 relay.
      Sherman ran the second leg of the relay.
      Holder ran the third leg after placing fifth in the heptathlon.
      Giddings anchored the meet for NU. She won the 100, took fourth in the 200 and ran on both of NU's relays.
