Dartmouth Invitational
"It was a good start to the season, but we still have work to do," said distance coach Renny Waldron. "In a month we will be running faster, but today's meet shows that the women really worked hard over the summer. Brittany Moriarty had a great performance and is becoming the cross country runner we knew she could become. Jessica Barton ran well and Kristen Martin had a breakthrough race. Our whole top five ran very well."
Moriarty placed fourth overall in a time of 20:37.6 and Barton placed 12th in 20:59.5. Barton is a sophomore transfer from Wake Forest. Martin placed 18th in 21:12.7 and freshman Meegan Joly was 19th in 21:13.4. Senior co-captain Kristie Gagnon was the fifth Husky across the line in 20th in 21:16.4.
Boston University's Erin Lagasse won the meet in 19:53.8 and Brown's Eliza Webber was second in 20:30.9.
Northeastern is back in action in a week when the Huskies compete in the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Sept. 20 at 10:30 a.m. The Huskies will likely run a split squad in that meet, resting runners who ran this weekend.

Hanover, NHNortheastern took second at the highly-competitive Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday in Hanover, N.H. Brown won the meet with 51 points and the Huskies won the battle for second with 73 points, ahead of Boston University (75), Dartmouth (76), Maine (115), Monmouth (127) and Massachusetts (170).
