NU competes in Penn Relays

Northeastern's 4x800-meter relay team placed 15th and the 4x100-meter relay team placed 31st at the Penn Relays this weekend at Franklin Field in Philadelphia. The three-day competition is one of the oldest and most prestigious track & field events in the nation.

NU's 4x800 team ran a time of 9:05.81 for 15th in the college women's section on Saturday. The team members, with approximate splits, were Angelique Marcus (2:16.3), Seri Gordon (2:14.9), Christina Izzicupo (2:19.3) and Brittany Moriarty (2:14.7).

The Huskies' 4x100 relay team of Consandria Walker, Porshe Giddings, Sarah Trotman and Serena Allen ran a time of 47.35 to place fourth in the heat and 31st overall on Thursday. NU was an alternate for the ECAC 4x100 final on Friday but did not compete in the event.

Also on Thursday, Walker competed in the long jump, placing 26th with a leap of 17'5.5. Giddings was an alternate qualifier for the 100-meter dash but did not compete in the event

The Huskies are coming off a fourth-place finish at the CAA Championship last weekend at Towson. Giddings (100-meter), Kristen Martin (10,000-meter) and Nancy Rowe (javelin) took home individual championships for the Huskies.

In addition, Giddings' winning time of 11.58 at the CAA Championship was an NU record and Martin's 36:35.57 was an NU record in the 10,000. Brittany Moriarty set an NU record of 16:44.03 while placing second in the 5,000 and Jessica Barton set a Husky mark of 10:55.83 while taking runner-up honors in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
