Kirsten Ripple, a junior on the Northeastern Univeristy women’s track & field team, was named to the Academic All-District 1 first team on Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Ripple, who competes in the high jump, is a Presidential Scholar at Northeastern and holds a 4.0 grade-point-average in Physical Therapy.

Ripple had her finest season in 2008, placing fifth in the high jump at the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Championship on April 19. Ripple cleared 5’5 in that effort. She cleared a season-best 5’6 to place fourth at the Seahawk Invitational at UNC Wilmington on March 15. During the indoor season, Ripple placed ninth in the high jump at the New England Championship at Boston University.

Ripple has shown consistent improvement in track & field while at Northeastern. As a sophomore in 2006-07, she took seventh in the high jump at the CAA Championship. In 2005-06, her freshman year, she competed in the multi-events as well as the high jump and placed 10th in the heptathlon at the CAA Championship.

Ripple, of Hornell, N.J., competed in track & field all four years at Hornell High School and was team captain for two seasons. She was a Livingston County All-Star in 2003 and ’04.
